Establishing a Charitable Medical Centre
The foundation with professional drainage of the soil was completed in June 2021. During a spiritual ceremony, the first brick is placed in the ground – it is supposed to protect and bless the house. The ground floor can now be tackled.
The Jutta Olga Weller Foundation, in collaboration with Dr. Priya and her daughters, has stepped in to provide much-needed assistance in Sri Lanka during the lockdown. Their primary mission is to ensure that the family not only continues to exist under a single roof but also to develop a sustainable livelihood in the medical field, serving a charitable cause.
Project Overview
The focus of the project is to set up a medical practice for Dr. Priya, a distinguished practitioner of Ayurvedic medicine. The establishment of this medical centre serves a dual purpose. Firstly, it allows Dr. Priya to continue her invaluable work as an Ayurvedic doctor, contributing to the health and wellbeing of the community. Secondly, the medical centre helps needy people by providing them with free medical support. This initiative aligns with the foundation’s key objective of promoting health equity.
Purpose of the Medical Centre
Moreover, the medical centre is envisioned as a sustainable source of income that ensures the financial stability of Dr. Priya and her daughters. By generating revenue through the medical centre, Dr. Priya will be able to independently secure her family’s future. This will make them resilient and immune to future crises, like the Covid-19 pandemic, that could potentially disrupt their livelihood.
Progress of the Project
The progress of the project has been steady and promising. The foundation, professionally drained of the soil, was successfully completed in June 2021. A spiritual ceremony marked this significant milestone where the first brick was placed in the ground. This traditional practice is believed to offer protection and blessings to the house. With the completion of the foundation, the construction work for the ground floor is now ready to commence.
Impact and Future Prospects
The Jutta Olga Weller Foundation’s project, in collaboration with Dr. Priya, is an inspiring example of how sustainable development can be achieved by empowering individuals and enhancing community health. By creating a medical centre that not only provides free healthcare services to the needy but also secures Dr. Priya’s livelihood, the project is creating a lasting impact in the community.
As the construction progresses, it will be exciting to see how the medical centre will transform the lives of Dr. Priya, her daughters, and the broader community in Sri Lanka. The project embodies the Foundation’s mission of creating sustainable livelihoods and promoting health equity, making it an inspiring model for similar initiatives elsewhere.
