In the heart of Khayelitsha, at 32 Khwazile Street, Phase 2, Ilitha Park, Khayelitsha, a beacon of hope continues to shine for young people in need of guidance and support. Abaphumeli House for Young Adults provides a safe and nurturing environment for those who have aged out of foster care but are not yet ready to live independently. Thanks to the generosity of the Weller Foundation, this remarkable home recently underwent essential renovations, restoring dignity, comfort, and stability for the young adults who call it home.
A Roof Over Their Heads
One of the most urgent needs at the home was repairing the boys’ sleeping quarters. The old roof, worn down by years of harsh Cape Town winters, posed a serious challenge to their well-being. With the foundation’s support, the boys’ dormitory now has a brand-new roof, ensuring warmth and safety all year round.
Inside, the transformation continued with freshly painted walls and repaired floors, creating a secure and welcoming space where young men can rest, recharge, and focus on their future.
